Codes of Ethics

This Code sets out common minimum standards that apply to Reiki Kyokai Kan members.

 

1. Members will ensure that they are medically, physically emotionally and psychologically fit to practice.

2. Members will ensure that they work in a suitable environment for their practice.

3. Members will hold current insurance for personal and professional liability.

4. Members will meet the highest professional and ethical standards and will at all times conduct themselves in an  honourable, moral, courteous and respectful manner.

5. Members will comply with a programme of continuing professional development to maintain their professional competency,knowledge and skill.

6. Members must comply with all the relevant UK laws and regulations including, but not limited to:

6a. Regulations on the reporting and treatment of notifiable diseases.

6b. Regulations pertaining to working with children. 

6c. Regulations on working with animals.  

6d. Regulations regarding working with clients who may require medical treatment. 

6e. The Data Protection Act. 

7. Advertising and statements made to clients must not contain anything that is false, fraudulent, misleading, deceptive, illegal and or unfair.

8. Members will ensure their clients have all the information they need to make informed choices about the service offered before it takes place.

9. Fees and other terms including cancellation policies and the degree of confidentially offered shall be established before the first consultation begins.

10. Members will keep the appropriate records and ensure that these and anything else pertaining to client work remains confidential unless the law requires disclosure.

11. Members will set and monitor boundaries for their practitioner client relationships and make this explicit to clients.

12. Members will be sensitive to their clients problems, needs and feelings, and to their cultural, religious, spiritual, political and social veiws, backgrounds and beliefs.

13. Members will treat all clients equally irrespective of race, colour, creed and gender. Members shall be aware of and responsible for their own personal safety and shall take steps to ensure that is not compromised.

14. Members will decline cases that exceed their capacity, training or competence and, where appropriate will seek to refer to a more qualified person.

15. Members must not practice any healing modality including medical diagnosis and treatment unless they are trained and qualified to do so and will refer clients seeking such help to an appropriate competent person.

16. Members will exercise discretion while working with clients who are mentally unstable, addicted to drugs or alcohol, severely depressed, suicidal or suffering from hallucinations.

17. Members will accept and agree to abide by the Code of Ethics and Practice, Standards and Complaints Procedure of Reiki Kyokai Kan.

18. Members and their practice are subject to UK laws and any clause of the code that would be invalid under UK law is understood not to apply.

19. Reiki Kyokai Kan reserves the right to amend the Code to meet changing professional, legal or regulatory requirements.
